Ready, Set, Go! OECS Swimming Competition is Coming to SVG.
The St.Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Swimming Association’s next major event after the Rio Olympics will be the hosting of the OECS swimming championships. The competition starts November 10th 2016, and runs until the 13th, at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre.
Swimmers from the rest of the sub-region will be wary of their Vincentian opponents, namely Shne Joachim and Nikolas Sylvester. These two youngsters are fresh from representing our country at the Rio Olympics. However, they are not the only ones likely to strike fear in the visitors, as swimmers from the Blacksand Swim Club recently had a huge medal haul at an invitational in St.Lucia. So the talent pool is huge.
Leading up to November, the Association has been staging warm-up events. They have so far staged the Flow invitational meet and an open water event at Buccament Bay Resort.
The 2016 OECS swimming championships will be the 26th edition of the competition; stay tuned to Express Vinci® for more details.
